About the founder

Sanjay Nijhawan, the Managing Director of Applause Designs Pvt. Ltd., started out as a lone entrepreneur for Applause carpets in 1988. He belonged to a family involved in the business of iron and steel. However, due to his zest for creative pursuits & his enthusiasm to evolve on his own, he forayed into the carpet business starting a small retail outlet and then went on to the business of manufacturing beautiful carpets for commercial, residential spaces & high-end hotels.

Founded in 1988, APPLAUSE DESIGNS is led by SANJAY NIJHAWAN, with his vast experience in Retailing and Manufacturing of customized Carpets.

Widely acknowledged in the industry as a manufacturer and importer of a mind-boggling collection of Floor Coverings & backed by the treasure of experience, Mr. Sanjay Nijhawan with his unique skill set of being able to merge strategic, Commercial, technology and operation management has been able to build high growth business with a winning proposition. He achieved this with goal-oriented zeal of an Entrepreneur

During this course, he earned the reputation of giving world class customer service & quality products to his customers which ensured that he had a steady following of loyal clients by his side.

His initiative of partnering with EGE gave birth due to their common objective of providing value & quality to their customers & at the same time creating something so beautiful that the Indian hospitality & commercial industry stood to gain by their common drive. He also collaborated to bring together ‘ege’Carpets and Rohit Bal to give the global consumers a taste of true India, launching the Collection in 2012. The Indian Carpet Story allows the creation of truly unique interiors inspired by Indian tranquillity and fragrances and was launched in 65 countries around the world.
